What kind of batteries does my Golf Cart require?

For Electric Carts:

Older Golf Cart models like the E-Z-GO Medalist use 36 volts as a standard battery, and today's newer Golf Carts use 48 volts. The amount and type of batteries is heavily dependent on what type of cart you have.

For newer carts, use 48 volts for the following:

A class 1 (no modifications) standard golf cart is a stock cart with 17 inch tires, with stock motor & controller. A 48v 60Ah set will let you drive 30 to 35 miles. A 48v 90ah set will let you drive 40 to 45 miles.

A class 2 (lots of modifications) golf cart is a golf cart that is heavily modified that uses large aftermarket tires and has a high performance motor & controller. A 48v 90Ah will let you drive 30 to 40 miles and a set of 48v 120Ah will let you drive 50 to 60 miles.

A class 3 (6 passenger) golf cart is a modified 6 seater with large aftermarket tires and high performance motor and controller. A 48v 180Ah will let you drive 25 to 35 miles and a 48v 240Ah set will let you drive 45 to 55 miles.

Note: specific models require additional batteries

E-Z-GO RXV needs at least 3 lithium batteries or 90 Ah

Because E-Z-GO RXV carts use the brake to recycle energy back into the battery, RXV needs at least 3x 48v30 Ah lithium batteries or at least a single bank 48v 90 Ah so the battery does not get overloaded and shut down from the large amount of electricity coming from the brake system. Using less than recommended amount of batteries may result in damaging your batteries.

If you have a gas golf cart, a 12v 35ah or starter battery would suffice. Check out our Lithium Batteries here:
