This is a replacement bearing for use inside the differential of electric 1984 to Present Club Car DS & Precedent model golf carts. This bearing is used in three different places within the differential of the gas carts. It is used on both sides as the inner axle bearing within the differential.
When rebuilding a golf cart differential, it is not always neccessary to replace every part. However, it's not a bad idea. All too often, minor repairs are made, only to have another bearing fail a few weeks later. Usually, this occurs through no fault of the technician, but just due to chance. Rather than have one labor bill to replace it all the first time, you end up with a second labor bill and twice the expense.
Checking a golf cart bearing can tricky if you don't know the signs of a bad one. In many cases, you can spin the crank by hand to test the bearings. Of course, feel for "sticky spots". If the bearing does not spin in one fluid motion or sticks, it is bad and needs to be replaced.
